Indy at the Capitol
There Can Only Be One
With a few days left before the final race of the 2015 IndyCar Series season, the top 6 drivers in contention for the championship title were in Sacramento along with officials from Sonoma Raceway to receive a state Senate resolution from state Senator Jim Nielsen.
If one was lucky enough to be out walking around the state house during their lunch hour they would have encountered a press conference and all six drivers willing to interact with fans by posing for photos and signing memorabilia, and by "memorabilia" we mean an old sweaty hat that was almost 15 years old.
This is the first time in the history of the series that it will finish on a road course. Sonoma raceway will provide backdrop for what looks to be an amazing finish to a very competitive season that has Juan Pablo Montoyo, Graham Rahal, Scott Dixon, Will Power, Helio Castroneves and Josef Newgarden all in contention for the championship. This year's fifteen races have been won by 9 different drivers. While many lament the loss of competition in Formula 1, IndyCar has maintained excitement throughout its season.
In the backdrop of this event was the loss of driver Justin Wilson which weighs heavy on all the drivers. Scott Dixon offered some thoughts on this tragic loss:
TLP will be Sonoma Raceway this weekend to bring you all the action. Regardless of who wins, the weekend will be emotional as IndyCar plans several tributes to Wilson.
