They're all going to be there....
They're all going to be in one place at one time....
The Porsches are coming...and we're going to be there to geek out on them.
We at TLP just love cars...and every form of the racing arts (both two and four-wheeled)...but we love Porsches more than anything else. They "do it" for us and we make no excuses for our preference for the Stuttgart marque's disproportionately huge chunk of our hearts. If it starts with a "9" it's party time (Yes, even the lowly 924)! Air cooled/water cooled, yes and yes! Words like Carrera, Hippy, Doppelkupplung, Pink Pig, Pooper, Spyder are lyrical notes to our ears and brains. Our heroes are named Haywood, Hermann, McQueen, Ickx, Redman, Bell, Röhrl, Holbert and Luhr.
Its time again for the Rennsport Reunion held every 3 years, alternating between venues on the East and West coasts. This year it's our turn, and it's at one of the best tracks in the country, the lovely Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. It's perfect timing for another Rennsport as Porsche reclaimed its thrown atop the pinnacle of endurance racing with their 17th overall victory at the 24 hours of LeMans. Porsche also leads in the manufacture's standings of the World Endurance Championship. If ever there was a perfect time to break out some heritage to remind everyone that this year's dominance in endurance racing isn’t now.
On hand for the Rennsport weekend will be a collective homage to the engineering marvels of Stuttgart in the form of nearly 1,800 Porsches on track or on display. A total of 281 race cars classified into seven racing groups will be on track for the weekend. Add to this 63 Porsches in the Chopard Heritage Display, 15 in the Legends of Le Mans garages, and more than 1,400 in 20 car corrals. This is not just a display of cars, but a display of historic victories, success and achievement. (Not to mention whatever specimens Bruce Canepa brings) This is what it would be like if Michael Jordan wore all of his six championship rings at once…awesome, overwhelming and an act rarely seen.
