A Historic Weekend

Over the weekend at Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta the finale of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship wrapped up the 2016 season. History was made as Christina Nielsen became the first female to win a major full season sports car championship in North America.  Nielsen drove the No. 63 Ferrari 488 GT3 for the first three hours of the ten hour race to clinch her season championship.   This is was no small accomplishment as the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship remains North America's premiere sports car racing series.

She was the first female from Denmark to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and last week received the Colding Cup from the Danish Automobile Sports Union for her success in motorsports and credit to her home country.  Nielsen nearly captured the GTD driver's championship last year for TRG Racing, but fell short of the title by just two points.
