Autorama 2016 Weekend Events

Autorama 2016 Weekend Events

For those of you who are new to the area, or who've lived under a rock your whole life, we want to let you know that at some point this weekend, you might begin to think we're being invaded by hot rods and custom cars (as if that could be a bad thing).  This weekend is the 66th Annual O'Reilly Sacramento Autorama http://www.rodshows.com/sa/index.html.

Lots of paint and chrome...

This event runs from the 12th to the 14th at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds.  General admission is $20, Jrs (6-12) are $10 and kids 5 and under a free.  You can get $2 off coupons at participating O'Reilly Auto Parts locations and parking is $10 at the gate.

The show will feature every kind of hot rod and custom car under the sun (as usual) and this year, Dave Kindig (from TV's Bitchin' Rides),  Jimmy Shine (of Jimmy Shine's Work Shop) and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons will also be in attendance to sign autographs and kiss a few babies!

----BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE----

It's like this for blocks!

If that's not enough for you, there is another event at So-Cal Speed Shop www.socalsac.com on Saturday, from 9-5, at their location at 1715 Del Paso Blvd.  We attended this "Open House" event last year and we were impressed with the quality and quantity of cars in attendance.  It was family friendly, there was lots of music and merriment and there were scores of rods and customs lined up and down Del Paso Blvd. for blocks.  The event is free and there will be priority parking for Hot Rods, Customs and Classics and a shuttle from the shop to the Autorama.   If this event is half as good as it was last year, we can safely say you'd be foolish to miss it.

----AND AS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH FOR YA---

Blue Collar Customs https://www.facebook.com/bluecollarcustoms  is starting the weekend off right , by hosting an open house of their own on the evening of the 12th, from 8pm till ???  Their event will feature a Hot Rod Art Show featuring the work of Bruce Gossett  www.brucegossett.com and a fundraiser featuring the sale of California's own 805 beer with proceeds going to SkateMD www.skatemdhh.com.  We don'e have any firsthand experience with Blue Collar, but we want to support our locals and we'll hopefully be able to make it by ourselves to see what they're all about.

So there it is.  You've been informed.  If you love rods and customs, this is your weekend.  Get out and see what there is to see and enjoy the sights, the sounds and what promises to be some fantastic weather this weekend.
