Ugh Canada- Canadian GP Review
Ok, so this is going to be a quick one as we have been swamped with projects this week but wanted to get this out before all of the action of this weekend (24 Hours of LeMans and European Grand Prix)
It was a gloomy and cold summer day at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with temperatures in the lower to mid 50’sF. The racing would be anything but gloomy as from the drop of the flag the action was frenetic and constant. The Canadian GP has always provided a market each season that provides a good show and demonstrates where the teams are at in terms of performance.
Sebastian Vettel would cover the geography from 3rd to 1st place within the first few seconds of the green lights as he moved around both Mercedes like they were standing still. Arguably, It may go down as one of the best starts of his career. As they rounded the first corner Rosberg would be the biggest loser as team mate Hamilton pushed him wide and onto the grass causing Rosberg to lose several places.
Alas, after a round of pit stops Vettel would find himself in second place in the latter third of the race chasing down Hamilton who had taken the lead. He would come close but two mistakes at the final chicane would lose him precious time he needed to challenge Hamilton for the win. All weekend Ferrari would show that their new turbo unit may have come close to equaling the power of the Mercedes engine but strategy, for the third time this season would costs the team a potential win.
Thought in spite of that Vettel did not seem upset as you can see from when he crashes Hamilton’s post race interview.
