DB11-007
It's among the most refined, comfortable and well put together cars you can dream of. It has all the properness of a English gentleman, mingling amongst the aristocracy. Yet, at any moment this same gentleman can transform into trained killer. It is no wonder that this refined beast was inspired by 007 himself with the same temperament of equal parts suave renaissance man and trained assassin searching for any reason to snap your neck.
TLP was all ears when we received the call to come check out the brand new Aston Martin DB11. Not any DB11 but one of a thousand from the initial launch edition. Yes, Northern California is among the first places in the nation to be the home of a brand new launch edition DB 11. Its a serious car for the serious person. In an era where supercars have hybrid power or special witchcraft under the hood, Aston went the simplified (if brutish) route. They slapped on two turbos to a 5.2 liter V12 pushing out 600 horses (te hee hee). In our limited road test, the DB11 demonstrated refined comfort cruising the local backroads, hardly ever revealing the snarling demon under the hood. Under a little bit of right foot pressure (that's the loud pedal folks!) with sport plus mode active, the DB11 howls to life, unleashing a terrifying creature that you realize if you let loose you will never get it back in its cage. For a car that is a rolling work of art, it is hard to fathom the brutality that it can dish out under throttle.
The DB11 is brilliant in so many ways but the real brilliance is it looks so good doing everything it can do.
