Sochi Boring!
When the Ferraris qualified 1st and 2nd on Saturday it was the first time since 2008 at the French Grand Prix. A stunning realization that the most successful F1 team in history had not locked out the front row in 9 years! Alas, that would be the end of the excitement for the Russian Grand Prix. Sochi a track that robs fans and drivers of any joy, devoid of character or flash. Sochi a track that seems to have been designed for the sole purpose of preventing passing.
At the start Mercedes driver Bottas would win the drag race to turn 1 turning his third place start into the race win. Hamilton would be a non-factor finishing 4th and never a threat for the podium. In the last 10 laps Vettel would go on a charge that at one point within a second of Bottas.
Vettel is now the points leader with 86. Hamilton, who won this season's Chinese Grand Prix, is in second with 73. Bottas sits in third with 63 points. Mercedes holds on to its lead in the Constructors' Championship standings.
