Car Week 2019 User Guide

It just dawned on us that it’s already August and we haven’t issued our annual Car Week guide! Let’s rectify this now!

Car Week is our favorite thing in the whole wild world. For one week in August, the Monterey Peninsula hosts the country’s premiere automotive event….errr, events. From August 9th to the 18th, the world’s gaze will be fixed on a series of events and other unplanned/unanticipated happenings on California’s central coast.

As we’ve blathered on in posts from years past, there is no shortage of stuff to do, things/people to see and experiences to have. If you’re just getting hip to Car Week right now, and you live a significant distance from the area, you may be too late. Rooms in the area are almost impossible to find this close to the event and if you can find one within a reasonable driving distance, you’re probably looking at forking over something approaching a mortgage payment. Most everything has been booked for a while, and many options (both traditional lodgings and Airbnb types may have advertised (and sometimes unadvertised) multi-day minimums. If you have a room and/or you live within a reasonable driving distance, you’re in luck…the world is your oyster!

As we will list below, there are any number of events you can hit over the span of Car Week. These various events range from sold out soirees and concours to moderately expensive open events all the way to one of our favorite things, walking the city streets of Monterey and Carmel. No matter how you access Car Week, you are almost guaranteed to get your moneys worth.
