Ferrari & McLaren: Why You Hurt Us So Bad?
Last night, Top Gear (the good one) reviewed the Ferrari La Ferrari (Translation: the Ferrari, The Ferrari).
[youtube id="hCmBFqrmkbM"]
Captain Slow himself drove the La Ferrari and in addition to a road test he piloted the car around Ferrari's own test track at Fiorano. Typically, after one of these reviews the car is handed over to Top Gear's tamed race driver, The Stig for a lap around the Top Gear test track. The La Ferrari is the third point of the supercar hybrid spear with the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918. Which one would go from point to tip of the spear? We didn’t get to find out.
While Porsche has basically said go ahead, McLaren and Ferrari are creating conditions that make it impossible to have a true test. As the video below demonstrates both companies are being obtuse on this one. Ferrari only will allow a factory car, and McLaren only wants a customer car to participate. This sort of childish bickering is why Formula 1 teeters on absurdity.
Maybe one day we will find out where these three cars will fit on the Top Gear lap board.
