Top Gear San Francisco
It seemed like most other chilly mornings....arising at zero dark thirty to trek over to San Francisco to see what the lads at CAFÉ SpA had put together for the first cars and coffee of 2015. TLP has been to many cars and coffee events. This day would be different. TLP would be heading down with contributor and our security specialist, K. Lane. To add to the excitement, we would be driving a 2014 Maserati Quattroporte GTS.
Hitting the road in style, the frosty morning was warm with our excitement...that giddy feeling you had as a kid when you approached the gate of your favorite theme park. Engulfed in the finest Italian leather and accented with carbon fiber bits we rocketed down Interstate 80 dispatching various boy racers along the way. Our last act of Italian noise making was to give the Maserati the full beans inside the Treasure Island tunnel separating the new and old sections of the Bay Bridge. We assume that all tunnels were built to the appropriate auditory specifications for Italian cars. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR GURGLE POP! Yes they are!
We knew ahead of time some of the cars that would be on hand. Not just cars, but the rarest of modern hypercars...those cars that have transcended super car status and look as if they have benefited by some exotic alien technology. Arriving at the gate we were still shocked by what approached:
Yes, that's the La Ferrari and McLaren P1. For those environmentally consciences gear heads among our readers, they are both hybrids. Jeremy Clarkson remarked when reviewing the McLaren P1 that it would be appreciated by even "frizzy haired sandal enthusiasts."
For these two cars alone we could have left and went home, yet this was only the beginning. Located near the back corner of the pier were two more autos that by mere looks alone filled the area with excitement.
Yes, if your jaw is currently on the floor, we are right there with you. Four hypercars at a cars and coffee event! Hence why we titled this post, Top Gear San Francisco. After that we decided to go home as we could devote no more energy to this spectacle. WRONG!
Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche, BMW, McLaren, Corvette, Nissan, Ford were all represented with the finest their brands had to offer. Every space available at this well attended event had something. Whether it was American classics or a pinwheel of 4 Ferrari 458s. Porsche GT3, Porsche turbos, BMW M cars across the model line, Nissan GTRs, two Ford GTs, one in Gulf Racing colors...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Sorry just blacked out while writing. That's how good it was, and its only the start of 2015. See for yourself by watching our video and checking out the photo gallery. Once again CAFE SpA has set the bar for cars and coffee. A big props to the CAFE SpA team and their partners for pulling off such an amazing event.
