2016 Audi R8: The Last Opera of the NA V10

2016 Audi R8: The Last Opera of the NA V10

2016 Audi R8 at the San Francisco Auto Show

Here at the Loud Pedal, we're big fans of Audi, and more to the point, the Audi R8.  It's supercar meant to be driven hard, yet civilized enough to make a quick (very quick) run to the local coffee shop with out crushing your spine on city streets.  Earlier this year I had the chance to drive the current general of R8 V10+ in our story on Audi's autonomous cars.  After an hour or so of blazing around the roads of Napa I concluded, "Few roads are able to prove a decent meal large enough for the R8 to gobble up."

Coming for 2016 is the new generation of the R8 V10+ edition with 600HP!  It shares the same V10 as the Lamborghini Huracan, but $50-60K less.    With so many cars, including Ferrari, moving to turbochargers, this R8 could be the last opera of the normally aspirated V10.  If this is the end of the normally aspirated V10 it couldn't be a better final act.  We have some information that someone we know has this new beast on order, so we hope to be able give an up close look in mid 2016.  Until then, we have reviews from Xcar and Evo.
