The Final Minutes of a 24 Hour Race.
The Indianapolis 500 and the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix were not the only two major motorsport events this Memorial Day weekend. The 24 Hours of Nurburgring was on also tap as 250,000 were in attendance to watch a field of 159 cars spread across several classes. The Nurburgring 24 Hours used to be primarily a club and privateer event, though in the last decade more and more manufacturers are entering the race with factory backed efforts. A single lap of the Nurburgring is 15.5 miles long. Its a track so long and spread out that the weather can change corner-to-corner. With 24 hours to race it would be shocking for the race to come down to the last lap. Yet, thats exactly what happened. After battling for over 23 hours the result would come down to the last lap.
Enjoy the final minutes of this race as the eventual winner makes his move.
